Edward Acciardis account of the effect of his military service on his life:
Sent November 4, 2018

Edward Acciardi mentioned he went to St. Joseph's Grammar School and High School in
West New York, New Jersey.  Edward Acciardi continued to state:

I am a veteran of the Korean War serving as a medic from January 18, 1955 to January 18, 1957
Took my first eight weeks of training at Fort Bliss Texas and medical training at
Fort Sam Houston in Texas.
Permanently stationed at Fort Meade Maryland serving as a medic training reservist.

My experience during this time period was one of the most rewarding periods in my life. During this time, I realized that I wanted to go to college and that I wanted to spend my working life
helping others.

The Army helped me grow up and I find myself very
grateful for that. The government also helped me buy my first home with very little money down.

Edward Acciardi added:
Without the GI Bill, I might not have gone to college. It paid for both my undergraduate and
graduate studies.

Edward Acciardi wrote that he went to St. Peter's College in Jersey City for undergraduate studies and New York University for graduate work; then, he concludes:

After graduate school in 1960's, I applied for a position in Hackensack High School.  I was interviewed for a position as a Social Studies teacher by Carl Padovano. He was the head of the department. I then had interviews with Howard Bollerman, Sr. and Hobie De Puyt, who was Superintendent of Schools. I started work in September of 1962 and retired in June of 1998.  I am grateful to the U.S. Government and the Hackensack School System for all they have done for me and for their belief in me that I had something to contribute to society. How lucky can a guy get.
